Water Dreams

"Water Dreams" Experimental Theater Performance

The Telegraph School will present "Water Dreams," the Cherry Valley Water Project Performance, taking place along the Cherry Valley Creek behind the Old School, 2 Genesee Street, Cherry Valley, NY on October 6th at 6pm.  It will be followed by the 25 Main Collective gallery opening for WATER from 7pm - 9pm.

Join us for "Water Dreams," an experimental site-specific eco-theater performance along the Cherry Valley Creek. The performance blends myth, magic, and history, and draws from the community's stories, music, dance, and puppets created during the free summer workshops offered through the Cherry Valley Water Project.

"Water Dreams" is performed by the Water Ensemble, a interdisciplinary performance troupe from the Central NY region, based in Cherry Valley and directed by Angelica Palmer.

“Magic is all around us every day, if you know where to look. The Cherry Valley Creek has nourished the plants, animals and humans in our valley for thousands of years. We are excited to share the stories and magic of the water with you, as you walk along the creek in the autumn twilight,” says Telegraph School founder and performance artist Angelica Palmer.

The performance will be followed by the opening reception for WATER at 25 Main Collective. Paintings, photos, sculpture, music, poetry and more will be on display. The work is created by the local community and inspired by the Cherry Valley Creek and watershed.

Both the performance and the gallery opening are family-friendly, free, and open to the public. Learn more and reserve your spot for the performance at thetelegraphschool.org. Both events are part of Cherry Valley First Friday, a monthly celebration in downtown Cherry Valley that starts at 5pm.

  • Jade Weiss (they/he/she) is a musician, artist, and new dancer in Montgomery County. They spend their time fighting for the environment, writing policy at the local level, and working with many local communities in food justice, art, and more! He loves going on hikes, gardening, writing creatively, jamming with his friends, and looking up at the stars and dreaming. She hasn’t performed like this outside of a school setting in many years but is eager to hit the stage again with dear friends.

  • Hello, I'm Nick Bordieri (he, him) with the Water Dreams project. Growing up along a tributary to the Mohawk River I've been aware of the fragility of our local water systems. My background in music and environmental science led me to be involved in this project to help bring awareness and connection to our many waterways.

  • Emma Trahan (she/they) is a creative from Canajoharie, NY. She recently graduated with BA’s

in dance and political science, and is passionate about exploring the deep ties between their

two fields. Emma is interested in helping others develop their awareness of embodied

the opportunity to create and connect with her community, and to celebrate artists in the area.

  • Vili Mang-Pitt (he, they) is a freelance folk healer, poet, and musician from the quaint town of Little Falls, nestled in the green woodlands of the Mohawk Valley.

  • My name is Madeleine (she/her) and I am so excited to be a part of the ensemble crew for the Cherry Valley Water Project! I am originally from Chicago, so my childhood was filled with beautiful experiences on Lake Michigan, a body of water that led me to this incredible project. I am working as a Food Access Fellow at Unadilla Community Farm in West Edmeston, New York, and am deeply passionate about food justice, sustainable agriculture, ethnobotany, and the relationship between nature and culture. Outside of working on the farm, I’m a volunteer firefighter and work at a food pantry in my town. I love to cold water swim, weave textiles, run, knit big scarves, go on long bike rides, and forage for cool plants. I am from a biiiiig, Midwestern, amazing family who I could not live without! I am so grateful to be a part of this beautiful project and to keep discovering new ways that we can connect and build relationships with water.
